production blog editi and film

It was stressing me out trying to figure out how to film by myself but when we got to filming it was easier than I thought it would be and I changed some things in my plan as I went. I planned everything out and even planned the time I was going to film. There was still some flaws in my plan and things I had to change but that is expected. Some of my clips don’t match my storyboard because I had to change them due to the way I was filming. For example, on my storyboard I had planned to film at school a couple times but then I felt weird filming at school. I ended up filming over the weekend anyways. I got my friend Camille to help me because initially my mom was going to but she went on a last minute trip when I wanted to film so luckily Camille helped me. It took me a week to film and edit everything because I didn't want to burn myself out doing it all in one day and also that never ends well doing stuff last minute. I also knew I had to teach myself how to edit because I have only done editing in groups so I do not really know how. I was the most stressed about that because editing has always been confusing to me. I just decided I would start basic and simple and try not to complicate anything because that would just mess things up and stress me out. I could just teach myself the basics first and then later on get better at editing and do more complicated stuff. Camille and I first filmed the clips we had to film with her and then later on I filmed the other ones alone and then I edited everything using iMovie even though it was hard to use for me and confusing.

 For the last week I was sick so I was not in school. We have a group chat for our project where my group mates would tell me what was going on so I would not be completely clueless. I was not really on my phone because of how sick I was because I was like passing out and stuff so I was basically bed ridden.   While planning everything, I realized that my original idea was not realistic. I did not time everything correctly so now I was pressed for time. The original idea of having an action movie did not really appeal to me anymore because of the circumstances. Even though it sounded really fun, it would have taken a lot more work, time, and planning. This meant a new genre, luckily we researched many genres and I had a cool idea. I knew I wanted to have a theme like a decade theme, I just did not know how to make it a story. Sometimes I will have a creative block where I sit there unable to think of anything. When it finally opens up, a ton of ideas run through my head and my mind goes racing a million miles an hour. I thought maybe I could do action still, but just with three characters. film review

 The film process was very interesting and long. It feels like a weight has been taken off my shoulders.   I had many obstacles to overcome, but always found a solution even if it took a lot of thinking and some help from my friends Jenna and Jade. The whole process of making this final task really caused me to appreciate moviemaking more. It is fun but extremely time consuming and often very stressful, especially as a beginner. I did learn a lot. I learned that no matter how hard it is, you have to persevere and keep trying to find new ways out of tough situations and things like this take hard work and dedication, yet it is worth it in the end. In this project, I perfected my filming and editing skills and also exercised my creativity. I practiced shooting from different angles and trying new things like panning the camera.
